Detection Principle H2S can be absorbed by acetate solution to form ZnS, which can form methylene blue in the presence of Fe3+ and chromogenic agent. Methylene blue has a maximum absorption peak at 680 nm. H2S content can be calculated indirectly by measuring the OD value at 680 nm.
