background | CAM5.2 is a commonly used very low molecular weight keratin. In normal tissues, the secretory epithelium (glandular epithelium) is positive for CAM5.2, but the stratified squamous epithelium is negative. It is one of the commonly used markers in glandular epithelium and various adenocarcinomas. CAM5.2 can be used in combination with high molecular weight keratin to distinguish adenocarcinoma from squamous cell carcinoma. In addition, CAM5.2 is generally considered to be suitable for the detection of metastatic breast cancer in (sentinel) lymph nodes. |
